Water Type Explained
Water is one of the most reliable defensive types: only two weaknesses (Electric and Grass) and four resistances, including Steel and Ice. Offensively it hits Fire, Ground and Rock for double damage and is resisted only by Water, Grass and Dragon.
Against a pure Water Pokémon, lead with Electric and Grass moves and avoid Fire, Water, Ice and Steel. Against a Water dual type the answer changes, because the second type can cancel a weakness or stack it into a 4× hit — use the Pokémon type calculator to check any exact combination.
